Alan Dillon, Minister of State, has officially opened three housing developments in County Mayo and marked the beginning of construction on a further phase of housing in Castlebar.
The developments include new homes in Ballyvary, Castlebar and Carnacon. In total, 62 homes are being delivered or progressed through the projects, representing an investment of more than €20 million.
Minister Dillon formally opened 12 homes in Ballyvary, four apartments on Lower Charles Street in Castlebar, and nine homes in Carnacon.
A sod-turning ceremony also took place for Phase Three of the Lios na Circa development in Castlebar, which will comprise 37 energy-efficient homes.
Speaking at the openings, Minister Dillon said the projects demonstrate progress in the delivery of housing across the county.
"Today is a proud day for Mayo. These 25 new high-spec homes, together with the 37 now moving to construction, show the real, tangible progress being made in delivering high-quality, affordable homes for people across the county," he said.
He also acknowledged the work of Mayo County Council in delivering the developments.
"I want to acknowledge the exceptional work of Mayo County Council, who continue to lead from the front in delivering housing that strengthens our towns, villages, and rural communities," he said.

The minister added that the developments reflect the Government’s commitment to ensuring housing investment is delivered across the country, not only in major cities.
Additional housing projects are also progressing in Castlebar. According to the Department, 77 new social homes are advancing at Lawn Road and Ellison Street, while a mixed-tenure development of 200 homes is planned for Knockthomas.
Minister Dillon also confirmed that three derelict properties at Barrack Bridge End will be refurbished as part of improvements to Lower Charles Street.
Earlier this week, the minister announced plans for 35 new affordable homes in Snugboro as part of a wider 99-home development, described as the first affordable purchase scheme to be delivered in Castlebar.
He concluded by thanking local communities, councillors, contractors and staff of Mayo County Council for their involvement in the projects, saying the homes would support families and young people seeking to remain in their local communities.
