Overcrowding continues at Mayo University Hospital according to new figures

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, there are 599 admitted patients awaiting beds across the country today, (Wednesday, February 5)

Overcrowding continues at Mayo University Hospital according to new figures

Figures released by the INMO trolley watch today (Thursday, February 5) have revealed that 30 patients are currently awaiting a bed at Mayo University Hospital. 

Of the 30 patients on trolleys, 12 are in the emergency department, and a further 18 are in wards elsewhere. 

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, there are 599 admitted patients awaiting beds across the country today, (Wednesday, February 5).

However, last month, 455 patients were recorded as waiting for a hospital bed at MUH, which represents a decrease from 503 patients in February 2025.
