Music Network has announced that Mayo will host a concert on Friday, February 27, at 8pm as part of a nationwide tour featuring four internationally recognised traditional musicians: Kevin Burke, Dermot Byrne, Noriana Kennedy, and Jim Murray. The Mayo performance will take place in The Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, Mayo.

The performance is part of Music Network’s National Touring Programme and will take place during a tour running from February 10 to March 1. The Mayo date is one of a limited number of Irish and international performances planned for the new collaboration.

Fiddler Kevin Burke has been a central figure in Irish traditional music since the 1970s. A member of groups including Patrick Street and the Celtic Fiddle Festival, he has also collaborated with artists such as Christy Moore and Kate Bush. Burke was awarded Gradam Ceoil TG4 Musician of the Year in 2016 and a National Heritage Fellowship in the United States.

Singer Noriana Kennedy, who is of Irish and Filipino heritage, has toured extensively in Ireland and internationally since the release of her debut album Ebb n Flow in 2011. She is also a founding member of the songwriting trio The Whileaways.

Guitarist Jim Murray has toured and recorded for more than 20 years with artists including Sharon Shannon, Sinéad O’Connor, Shane MacGowan and Mary Black. His album Ragairne, recorded with the late Séamus Begley, received Traditional Irish Music Album of the Year awards from The Irish Times and Hot Press.
