The annual general meeting of the Castlebar Fianna Fáil Comhairle Cheantair was held on Sunday, December 7, at the Ivy Tower Hotel, where members gathered to review the past year and elect a new officer board.

Councillor Damien Ryan chaired the meeting, with fellow councillors Al McDonnell and Blackie Gavin also in attendance. Tributes were paid to outgoing chairperson Gerard Feehan and outgoing secretary Vincent Kenny, both of whom stepped down after serving the organisation for many years.

Susan Hamrock was elected chairperson; Harry Gaughan will serve as secretary; Ronan O’Malley was elected treasurer; Caoilinn Gaughan was appointed PRO; and John Hamrock was elected president.

As Fianna Fáil approaches its centenary year, members discussed the importance of celebrating the party’s past while looking ahead to the future of the party in the county town.
