International Uilleann Piping Day is set to be marked in Mayo with a special gathering this Saturday, November 1, from 4pm to 6pm.
Taking place in Bridge Street Bar, Castlebar, this event will bring together pipers, musicians, and music enthusiasts from across the county to experience the art of uilleann piping.
The afternoon event will also include a lecture by Michael Kelly, “A Celebrated Mayo Piper in New York: The Michael Carney Story”, exploring the life of the musician who carried the sound of Mayo across the Atlantic.

The event will also feature performances from uilleann pipers, including Seán Ó Loinsigh, Diarmaid Moynihan, young uilleann pipers from around the county, and many more.
Admission is free to this event.
