Fórsa trade union has announced the Connacht/Ulster winners of its 2025 SNA Appreciation Day competition, which celebrates the essential work done by special needs assistants nationwide.
St Anthony’s Special School, Castlebar, and Myna National School, Kilmeena, are this year’s winners, each receiving €1,000 thanks to sponsors Cornmarket and Dubco. St Anthony’s Special School is the winning school in the SNA draw, while Myna National School won the school draw.
The competition is a central part of Fórsa’s SNA Appreciation Day, which takes place today (Thursday), and celebrates the essential work done by SNAs in schools every day, supporting students with additional needs and the wider school community.
Last year, more than 3,750 schools nationwide marked the day. This year, 15,000 Fórsa SNA members are taking part across the country.
Fórsa official Noreen O’Mahony said: “SNAs play a vital role in education, ensuring that children with additional needs are supported to thrive in the classroom. SNA Appreciation Day is about recognising that contribution, and the competition is a fun way to celebrate schools and SNAs locally.”
