Sally Rooney, author of 'Normal People', won her category at the Sky Arts Awards in London for her book 'Intermezzo'
Mayo author Sally Rooney was recognised among the great and good of the arts world yesterday (Wednesday, September 16), as she was awarded the Literature award at the Sky Arts Awards.
The event, which took place in The Roundhouse in London, is aimed at rewarding excellence across the spectrum of the arts industry in the UK and Ireland.

At the event, Rooney joined the likes of Paul Murray, Louise Kennedy, and Catriona Ward in scooping the prestigious accolade for her book 'Intermezzo'.
The novel tracks the love lives of brothers Peter and Ivan Koubek as they navigate grief in the wake of their father's death.
Bob Geldof was also recognised at the event with a Lifetime Achievement award.
Rooney recently garnered media attention for her support of Palestine Action.
