Eoghan Jennings and Lauren Dunne of Casltebar Tennis Club, who won titles at the William Fry Junior Lawn Tennis Championships of Ireland in Fitzwilliam, Dublin
Castlebar Tennis Club are celebrating a momentous achievement for Mayo tennis as two of their young protigées toasted national glory at the William Fry Junior Lawn Tennis Championships of Ireland.
The event, held in Fitzwilliam, Dublin, on Saturday, August 23, saw players converge onto the courts from all across the country with one goal in mind: being crowned champion.
It is rare that a tennis club from outside of the capital manages to return two champions at such an event, but that is precisely what both Lauren Dunne and Eoin Jennings did over the weekend.
Dunne was exceptional as she scooped the Under-16 title, putting in a fine performance against Maja Trojanowska in the final.
Eoghan Jennings was also in rousing form as he captured the title of Under-18 champion. In a solid performance, the 17-year-old defeated James McGloughlin on Court One to secure glory.
Both talents were honoured by Castlebar Tennis Club at 7.30 pm yesterday (Monday, August 25) in Castlebar.
