Over the weekend, there were numerous Mayo boxers in the ring at the National Men’s and Women's Under 23 Championships that took place in the National Stadium in Dublin.
In the 57kg women's division, Castlebar’s Natalia Fascieszewska went all the way when she won the title.
Fighting out of the red corner, Fascieszewska overcame Esther Lambe from Setanta in the decider. In the 51kg women’s division, Carlagh Peake from the Ballyhaunis BC made it to the final but ultimately lost out to Rachel Lawless from Brigids E/Def Force BC.
In the 85kg men's division, there was an all-Mayo clash in the semi-final when Padraig Corduff from St Anne’s Boxing club in Westport went up against Rasheed Momoh from Castlebar. Momoh progressed to the final on a 4-1 scoreline. However, the Castlebar boxer lost out to Sean Trant from Monkstown in the final.
