Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar
Mayo University Hospital has seen a slight reduction in figures in the most recent batch of ‘Trolley Watch’ statistics from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
However, figures still remain relatively high.

The first point of note is the significant lessening of those on trolleys inside the emergency department.
On Monday, the number stood at eleven. Today (April 9), that number has fallen to four, making the facility in Castlebar the third-best performing nationwide.
While this is a point of optimism, the number of patients waiting on trolleys remains at 17, the same as the figures on Monday.
The fall in numbers has also seen a fall in the table. Two days ago, the hospital had the third-highest number of those on trolleys.
Today’s figures see the hospital move to sixth in the rankings.

Overall, the country has seen an 18.64 per cent reduction in those waiting to be treated on trolleys, with figures decreasing by 82 from the 440 nationwide on Monday.
