'RIP Doll'- Mayo comes together to pay tribute to woman known as 'Doll'

Anne Gannon, better known as Doll, was from Castlebar

Mayo woman Anne Gannon, better known as Doll, is fondly remembered by all in her community following her passing.

Anne was from Breaffy Road, Castlebar, Co. Mayo and formerly of Westport.

She passed away on 21st February 2025, peacefully at the Mayo Hospice in Castlebar, surrounded by her loving family.

She is reunited with her loving husband Austin (Austie), her beloved sons Joe, John and Michael, her parents Nora and Tom, her sisters Kathleeen and Betty and her brother Thomas.

She is dearly loved and missed by her children Anne, Tommy, Olive, Alan and Karen.

She will be sadly missed by her heartbroken daughters and sons and their partners, her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her niece Ann, cousins, relatives and many friends.

Tributes have come from all over to celebrate Anne's life.

"Your Mam did her name proud, she was a Doll! A wonderful friend and neighbour. She always had time for the chat, as she went about her business, sitting on the wall, on her way to the shop, When I heard, Hello Gerry! I knew there was going to be a yarn and a bit of fun!! Wonderful memories of herself, Joe and Austie, and all the Gannons. Rest in Peace Anne," a tribute message said.

"My sincere condolences to all the Gannon family on the death of Ann (Doll). She was a really lovely funny lady. A breath of fresh air and always wearing a smile. R.I.P Doll," another message said.

Another message said, "Sincere Sympathy to Anne, Tommy, Olive, Alan, Karen and your extended families on this sad occasion of Anne's passing. She was a lovely lady. Cherish the memories of all the happy times ye shared with her and may these memories console,sustain and comfort you all in your grief and sorrow. Rest in peace Anne."
