Mayo TD Lisa Chambers has been appointed the new role of Director of Public Affairs for Irish investing platform, Consello.

Ms Chambers has worked in Leinster House for almost a decade, including in her role as Leader of the Senate as well as the party spokesperson on Defence, Brexit, Foreign and European Affairs and Chair of its Brexit Committee.

Ms Chambers "brings a unique breadth of cross-departmental experience and insights into key areas impacting business in Ireland and Europe," according to Consello.

A barrister by profession, the Mayo TD holds a degree in Commerce and Law from NUI Galway and a Masters in Commercial Law from University College Dublin, before being called to the bar at Kings Inns in 2011.

She is also a former member of the Reserve Defence Forces.

“It was a privilege to have had the opportunity to serve in Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann. The past decade or so in politics has given me invaluable experience that I am very grateful for.

I have now embarked on a new chapter in my life and joining Consello was an easy decision for me. What Declan Kelly has built globally with Consello, and in such a short space of time, is remarkable. Declan has now brought that global standard to Ireland by assembling a team of business leaders with an incredible track record of success themselves. I am excited to be part of such an experienced team,” said Ms Chambers.

Consello was founded by Irish businessman Declan Kelly almost three years ago and has offices in New York, Miami, Atlanta, London, Barcelona and the Middle East and has one of the most experienced leadership teams of any advisory firm in the world.

Ms Chambers will join the Communications and Public Affairs team at Consello in Ireland, one of six business units in the newly established company, which was officially launched in December and has a 30-strong team working across offices in Dublin, Belfast and Clare.
