End of Community Games in Mayo town after unsuccessful appeal for help
The Castlebar Community Games call it a day after no sufficient support for this year's affiliation was registered

It is the end of a piece of Mayosport history. The organisers from the Castlebar Community Games have just announced:
"Despite all reasonable methods to generate support and elect an officership board and committee for 2025 has failed. Castlebar Community Games will not be registering or affiliating for the year 2025."
The organisers of the Castlebar Community Games had issued a final appeal for help. For the past number of years they had been struggling to find volunteers, parents, guardians, carers, teachers, community members and adults to step forward and become involved in running the organisation.
On Wednesday, February 12, they organised a final meeting to fill different roles that are needed in order for the organisation to be properly affiliated and registered as directed in the rule book of National Community Games.
This final attempt has proven unsuccessful and this spells the end of Community Games in the county town after nearly 50 years.
