Ethan McNea will feature on Friday's episode of Countdown from Channel Four

A Mayo primary school teacher is toasting success for the second day running as he survived a nail-biting finish to the most recent episode of Countdown.

Achill's Ethan McNea was excellent for the second day in succession as he continued to shine on the Channel Four series, as he underwent a serious test of his skills.

His opponent on the day almost pulled off a comeback, and the game was delicately poised at 71-67 ahead of the Countdown Conundrum, a high-stakes finale.

However, the Mayo man came up with the answer to secure his passage to Friday's week finale.

That will be on Channel Four from 2.15 pm tomorrow.
