Water outages in Belmullet and Ballyglass
Uisce Éireann crews are currently carrying out repair works following a burst water main in Belmullet, Co Mayo, which has disrupted water supply to homes and businesses in Ballyglass and surrounding areas.
The burst occurred at approximately 2 am on Friday morning, prompting an immediate response from crews. Uisce Éireann confirmed that the damaged section of the main has now been successfully isolated, and repair works are set to commence shortly.
According to the utility, normal water supply is expected to be fully restored by 6 pm this evening, subject to weather and ground conditions.
Colette Scahill, Water Network Operations Manager with Uisce Éireann, thanked local customers for their patience while the unplanned outage is being addressed.
“We acknowledge the inconvenience caused by an unplanned outage and we wish to assure impacted customers that every effort is being made to restore normal supply as quickly as possible,” she said.

Uisce Éireann reminded customers in Mayo that vulnerable users who are registered with the utility receive direct updates during planned and unplanned outages lasting longer than four hours.
Residents experiencing supply interruptions or discolouration once water returns are advised to run the tap for a short period until the water clears.
