Over €6,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis herb discovered by Gardaí in Achill

Over €6,000 worth of suspected cocaine and cannabis herb were discovered in a house on Achill Island following a raid by gardaí last week.

Members of the Mayo Drug Unit carried out a search of a house in the village of Bunnacurry on Achill Island on Wednesday, August 27 where suspected cocaine and cannabis were discovered.

The residential property located in St Joseph's Crescent, across the road from Bunnacurry Church, was unoccupied at the time of the search and it is understood the occupant was out of the country.

The drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis but a Garda spokesperson said that around €4,000 worth of cocaine and €2,400 worth of cannabis herb were seized following the search.

No arrests were made following the discovery and Gardaí say that investigations into the search are ongoing.
