“Bee Happy for Cruinniú na nÓg” with family fun and beekeeping in Mayo

Free workshops, honey tasting and hands-on bee activities planned in Dugort on Saturday, June 6
Mayo families and children are being invited to enjoy a day of bee-themed fun and learning on Achill Island this weekend as part of Cruinniú na nÓg celebrations.
The free event, titled ‘Bee Happy for Cruinniú na nÓg’, will take place on Saturday, June 6 at The Strand Hotel in Dugort, bringing together local artists and beekeepers for a range of interactive activities aimed at children and families.
Festivities begin at 11am with a creative workshop where children can make their own bee antennae, before local beekeepers host a hands-on talk and demonstration at 1pm, offering visitors an insight into how bees are cared for and kept healthy.
The session will also include honey tasting, giving attendees the chance to sample locally produced honey while learning about the important role bees play in the environment.
Organisers are encouraging families to come along and take part in what promises to be a fun and educational day, filled with creativity, learning and plenty of “bee-autiful” activities.
The event is organised by local performance company Circus250 as part of Cruinniú na nÓg, Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children and young people.
Admission is free and organisers say everyone is welcome to join in the activities and enjoy a sweet start to the weekend.
