Mayo basketball star Hazel Finn has been rocking the Women's Super League since her move to Trinity Meteors this season.

The Kiltimagh native leads the league in total assists. Finn is also in the top 10 in four further categories: Total points, shot efficiency, total 2s and 3s made and three-point percentage.

The Ireland international scores an impressive 17.6 points per game. She also grabs 5.7 rebounds per game and collects 2 steals per game.

Those are brilliant all-round stats for the livewire from Mayo. And no wonder Hazel Finn was announced as Player of the Month November.

She has helped Trinity Meteors to a good start into the season with a 5-2 record and currently second in the league behind Killester.

And on top of that, Trinity Meteors have qualified for the National Cup semi-final. Finn will meet her former colleagues from FloMAX Liffey Celtics at the Neptune Stadium Cork on January 4.

Well, they've met before already, at a meteors 69-58 away win in October.

Trinity Meteors are certainly on the rise since the arrival of Finn.

In a recent interview with the Mayo News, she stated "We are a very young team, and I'm only 22. But I've been seen as the oldest in the group. I hope to bring that leadership role that I've had with the Irish team from the past, with the amount of experience I have, I'd like to bring the young girls on.”

She recently featured in Ireland's Eurobasket qualifiers, playing a pivotal role in beating Bosnia-Herzegovina in Dublin. And she formed part of the Ireland U-23 3v3 street basketball team, that won their first Nations League event ever at a tournament in Latvia this summer.

Next up this Saturday, Hazel Finn can help Trinity Meteors to stay on Killester's heels with a win over third placed Gurranabraher Credit Union Brunell.

Meteors face the team from Cork in a home fixture in Colaiste Iosagain. Tip-off is 5.30pm.
