Ballinrobe Men’s Shed burgled

Ballinrobe Men’s Shed members are seeking public assistance after the group’s home was broken into recently

MEMBERS of Ballinrobe’s Men’s Shed are appealing to the public for assistance after its premises was burgled.

The group’s home, located near the water towers on the Kilmaine Road, was broken into on Wednesday, July 29. A substantial amount of tools were stolen from the property, and now the group is looking for donations of replacement tools to continue its voluntary work.

The group of approximately 12 members had been making picnic benches for the town.

The perpetrators gained entry to the building by cutting a hole in one of the galvanised sides.

Speaking to The Mayo News, Ballinrobe Men’s Shed spokesperson Michael Walsh said the group only learned of the thefts after the hole was discovered.

Mr Walsh is urging the public not to buy woodwork tools if they are offered them and to contact Ballinrobe Garda Station.

Additionally, Mr Walsh hopes that people with spare tools might consider donating them to the group.

“We’re looking for donations of tools. The most expensive piece taken was a cordless drill with all its bits. Other tools were taken too. If we don’t get donations we’ll have to start from scratch, and the money just isn’t there because we’re a not-for-profit organisation,” said Mr Walsh.

Anyone with information regarding the thefts should contact Ballinrobe Garda Station on 094 9542830. Anyone wishing to donate tools can contact Michael on 087 2769699.
