Ballina Guided Walk

New HeritACT project to showcase reimagined buildings and installations in Ballina

Members of the public are being invited to “see Ballina differently” with a free guided walking tour highlighting innovative heritage installations and reactivated spaces across the town.

The tour, taking place on Sunday, February 8, is being organised by architectural social enterprise ACT (Accelerating Change Together) in partnership with Clodagh Fleming of Ballina Walking Tours, and follows a recent celebration of the life and legacy of Dr Kathleen Lynn, the pioneering Mayo-born physician and revolutionary.

The guided walk will explore a number of HeritACT installations around the town, showcasing how underused and historic buildings are being creatively reimagined. The walk will begin at Ballina’s New Sensory Park at 12.30pm and run until approximately 4.30pm.

The afternoon will conclude with a finale event at 5pm at the All Hallows Convent, featuring Pavilion and Projection Mapping installations.

HeritACT is a three-year, EU-funded project involving partners in five countries. In Ballina, ACT is working with Mayo County Council to find new uses for historic and institutional buildings, with six innovative projects set to be developed in the town by early 2026.

The walking tour and finale event are free but ticketed, and participants may join the walk at any stage. Further details and booking information are available on Eventbrite and at www.act-studio.com.
