Brian Connor and Leonard McDonnell at the Ballina Community First Responders AGM.
Ballina Community First Responders (CFR) has announced a new Group Coordinator, marking a key transition for the organisation at its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
Brian Connor was formally appointed as the new coordinator, succeeding Leonard McDonnell, who stepped down after eight years of dedicated service. Under Leonard’s leadership, Ballina CFR grew into a vital community resource, providing timely, life-saving assistance and supporting the establishment of several local CFR schemes. He guided the organisation through nearly a decade of growth, overseeing community-wide training programmes and responding to a record number of emergency callouts.
Reflecting on his tenure, Leonard McDonnell praised the dedication of the volunteer team and expressed confidence in Brian Connor’s leadership.
“The progress we have made since the group’s inception is remarkable,” he said. “The future of Ballina CFR is secure thanks to the commitment and capability of our members, and I have full confidence in Brian as he steps into this role.”
