Connacht rugby star seeks planning permission for padel courts in Mayo

Connacht rugby player Jack Carty and his friend and business partner, Fergal Hynes, have sought planning permission to construct padel courts in Ballina

The pair lodged an application with Mayo County Council to construct four padel courts at an industrial estate in Abbeyhalfquarter, Bunree, Ballina.

The proposed development involves converting the existing light industrial unit into a recreational facility, which would include the construction of four padel courts. Additionally, amendments would be made to the existing car park, and bicycle parking would be provided. 

The duo previously opened their first padel court in Galway at Corrib Business Park in July 2025, bringing the first padel court to the West of Ireland.
