Superintendent Ursula Hussey has been promoted to the role and will be based at Ballina Garda Station. She previously served as a sergeant with Longford Gardaí.
In her new position, Superintendent Hussey will have responsibility for the Mayo North Community Engagement Functional Area within the Mayo/Roscommon/Longford Garda Division.

The appointment forms part of a series of promotions and transfers announced nationwide, all of which take effect from today (Tuesday, January 6).
An Garda Síochána stated that the restructuring reflects international best practice and responds to the realities of modern policing in Ireland, including changes in crime patterns and population trends.
The new model enhances the investigation of crime through the delivery of a greater range of specialised services in local areas, such as the investigation of sexual crime, domestic violence, cybercrime, and economic crime.
