Manus J. Mc Loughlin, a native of Ballina but whose father Peter hails from Altamount St. Westport has won an award for his Faith Led approach to Teaching in Sydney, Australia. Manus is a Stage three teacher in Galilee Catholic Primary School with seven years of teaching experience in Ireland and Australia. The award noted that “Manus fosters confidence, character, a love of learning all of which demonstrate the transformative power of Catholic Education”.

Manus himself noted: “I am a firm believer that Education and Faith can go hand in hand. I come from a family of educators and a strong Catholic family. My Dad is heavily involved both at Parish and Diocese level, my sisters played the Organ in church and I myself was an altar boy and later involved in the Church choir."

The Principal said “This is well deserved by Manus as he places Compassion, Service and Stewardship at the centre of school experience for all our students.”
