Rolling back the years at reunion in Mayo

BALLINA man Martin Kenny has resided in Manchester for many years. But no one can deny his abiding love for his hometown on the banks of the grand old River Moy.

The arrival of Facebook has been a blessing to Martin who loves to keep in touch with so many friends around Ballina and the Manchester region. He shares some lovely memories on a regular basis and always enjoys his many frequent visits to Mayo.

Martin has been an ardent listener to my shows on Midwest Radio for several years and corresponds with the show on a very regular basis. It is always good to hear from Martin whose heart is truly anchored here in the West.

He met up with some old friends on his visit to Ballina recently and they enjoyed a wonderful get-together in Hughes's Bar in the town and where they were well looked after by the engaging and cordial staff.

“We had a fantastic Sunday night telling stories of our mischievous youthful activities and also busy enjoying a few pints of Guinness. We reminisced about our school days and other antics we were up to during our youth since we were babies to teenagers and beyond, covering from the 1950s, the 1960s to the present day.

“Nights like these are so special and do us all good. It was great to share special memories and recall some of the great people we were blessed to know down through the years. Here’s and cheers to the next reunion!” said Martin.
