Gemma Hayes, who is set to play a special solo show in St Michaels Church, Ballina this October 10.
Ballina Fringe Festival has announced that acclaimed Irish singer songwriter Gemma Hayes is set to play a special solo show in St Michael’s Church, Ballina this October 10. The Tipperary natives’ performance is part of an exciting array of events as part of the arts festival which takes place from October 3-12.
Gemma expressed her excitement for the upcoming gig: “I am totally buzzed to be getting out around the country gigging again. It’s the culmination of a couple of years of hard work, releasing the album Blind Faith, and several singles High and Low, Feed The Flames, Hardwired, Another and Central Hotel in that time.”
Since the release of Blind Faith last September, the Irish singer-songwriter has garnered widespread attention. The Irish Times praised her knack ‘for forging desirable nuggets out of pop’s most basic constituents’ while crafting tracks that ‘veer from folksy warmth to silky sandblasting’.
Since her debut in 2002 titled, Night On My Side, Gemma has gone on to work with producer Marius de Vries, best known for his film soundtracks ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘La La Land’, for her most recently released track Central Hotel.
Similarly her music is in demand for film and TV placements. Her version of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game”, recorded for the US TV series ‘Pretty Little Liars’, now has over 30 million streams, and most recently her song “Oliver” was featured in the soundtrack to the AppleTV series “Your Friends and Neighbours”.
