Senator Mark Duffy and Cllr Marie Therese Duffy both attended the Macra Launch
Mayo Macra has officially launched a new club in the county. The latest Macra club was launched in the heart of North Mayo in Ballina last week with a successful information evening. The event drew a strong turnout from young young people in the area, all interested in building a new social and community group for those aged 17 to 35.
The evening included a presentation from Macra’s training and development officer, Siobhan Coyle, who spoke about the wide range of opportunities the Macra association offers.
Coyle explained: “Macra isn’t just for those from farming backgrounds, it’s a national social network that brings together young people from all walks of life. Whether you’re into sports, public speaking, travel or just want to meet new people, there’s something in Macra for everyone”.

Local County Councillor Marie Therese Duffy who attended the launch praised the initiative stating: “I’d encourage every young person in Ballina to join. It’s a relaxed, welcoming group and a great way to connect, especially in a rural area”.
Following a great response at the meeting, Ballina Macra is now up and running, and looking for more members. New members are invited to come along to the next meeting in Ballina Community Sports Centre (Eircode F26 T8N8) on Friday, May 16.
Be sure to follow Ballina Macra on Facebook and Instagram for updates and information about upcoming events.
