THEY must be building a separate wing in the Renton household just for trophies and medals at this rate.
On Sunday afternoon, Mayo athlete Freya Renton put in yet another fantastic time as she completed the West of Ireland Women’s Mini-marathon in Castlebar in a simply incredulous time of 35 minutes and 59 seconds.
The runner from Westport AC, who only turned 15 very recently, has broken practically every record that has come before her up to this point, and her time on Sunday, as she powered along the ten-kilometre long course, was enough to earn her the fastest time in the race.

Freya’s time was just 30 seconds short of the record for the course, which is held by Sinéad Diver, who recorded the time in 2015 at the age of 38 and went on to represent Australia and finish tenth at the 2020 Olympics.
Renton's time was enough to earn her top spot across the board. The next best time was Norah Newcombe Pieterse, of Mayo AC, with a time of 37 minutes and 52 seconds.
Freya’s twin sister, Holly, who is a top-class athletic talent in her own right, finished in the top five on the day.
