Irish people are scratching their heads this week after ticket price details were released for Barack Obama's on-stage interview at the 3Arena this September.

The former US President, who previously visited Ireland as President to trace his Irish roots in Offaly, will take to the stage for the interview with renowned journalist Fintan O'Toole.

While tickets will apparently start at €25 when they go on sale this week, VIP packages are being offered for up to €2,000. The extravagant tickets come with a "photo opportunity" Obama but the fine print suggests such a photo is "not guaranteed" - even for that price.

The top tier ticket offers a photo opportunity with President Barack Obama (1 photo per 2 guests) *pending security clearance; Designated VIP check-in; Premium seating for the show in the front four rows; Commemorative ticket; and a take home copy of President Barack Obama's book, A Promised Land.

However, the website of promoters Seat Unique says: "By purchasing this package, you understand that participation in the photo opportunity is not guaranteed. Participation is contingent upon security clearance. Upon purchase, you agree to undergo thorough security checks and identity verification. Orders may be cancelled without notice if required security checks are not passed. You will receive an email confirming your attendance, if required checks are passed."

A range of ticket prices are available as they go on sale via Ticketmaster and Singular Artists at 10am on Thursday, July 10. The event promises a compelling interview with the former President as he comes back to Ireland to "share a message of hope, resilience, and the power of lifting one another up."

The event takes places on September 26, 2025.
