WATCH: Live from historic turning of the sod for Mayo athletics

Oisín McGovern and Michael Gallagher were on the ground talking to those involved in the milestone redevelopment of Westport Sports Park

Friday, April 11, marked a seminal day for Mayo athletics, as Minister for Sport Patrick O'Donovan turned the sod on what promises to be a fine facility at Westport Sports Park.

Oisín McGovern spoke to Lisa Clarken, the Chairperson of the Westport Athletics Club Development Committee, on the exciting new track and surrounds.

Elsewhere, Head of Sport Michael Gallagher was on hand to preview the latest happenings in Mayo football, hurling, and soccer, as well as dropping a hint on an exciting new development for Mayo GAA fans.
