The whistler will be in the middle of St Tiernach’s Park as both teams aim to get their Sam Maguire hunt off on the right foot

It has been confirmed that David Coldrick will referee the upcoming All-Ireland Championship meeting of Mayo and Monaghan.

This Sunday, the fans of both counties will make their way to St Tiernach’s Park in Clones full of optimism as they hope to take a positive first step in the journey towards Sam Maguire.

Now, they know who will be calling the shots on the Clones turf.

The Green and Red have plenty of previous experience with the Meath native so far this season, both good and bad.

The Blackhall Gaels clubman was the man in the middle as Andy Moran’s troops exited the provincial series at the hands of Roscommon, while he also officiated the National League duel with Armagh, also in MacHale Park.

He has no shortage of experience on the big days in the sporting calendar, having refereed multiple All-Ireland finals, including the 2020 decider between Dublin and Mayo.

Coldrick was also the whistler for the 2025 All-Ireland Series meeting with Tyrone, as well as the National League final against Kerry, where he came under scrutiny from then-Mayo boss Kevin McStay for decisions surrounding David Clifford.
