Mayo LGFA intermediate champions Moy Davitts are aiming to book their ticket for the Connacht final next Sunday

Moy Davitts go into Sunday’s provincial semi-final on the back of their AbbVie Mayo intermediate title, won with a 2-7 to 1-6 victory over Aghamore at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park.

Kasey Ruane was the difference that day, finding the net on 20 minutes and again on 25 to give the Moysiders a 2-4 to 1-2 interval lead. Aghamore pulled back to within a goal in the second half, but a long-range point from Tracey Hall on 49 minutes and a late Orla McHale insurance score saw Colm Carney’s side over the line.

At the other end, goalkeeper Emma Galligan was outstanding, pulling off a string of excellent saves to deny Aghamore some great goal chances, and she was a deserving player of the match.

The semi-final was tighter still. Old rivals MacHale Rovers, that Moy Davitts have had huge battles with in high stakes games in the recent past, hosted them in Ardagh, and it took a late Ruane goal from close range to restore a three-point cushion before Moy Davitts finished two points to the good.

That gives Ruane three goals in her last two championship outings. The title completed a season in which Aghamore were the only side to beat Moy Davitts, after the Moysiders had won the league on an unbeaten run.

For captain Sandra Hall it is a full-circle moment: she was part of the team that came up from junior in 2011 and won intermediate in 2013, and the club now returns to senior after nine years in the top flight and a spell back at intermediate.

Tuam Cortoon arrive with plenty of hurt behind them and a provincial game already under their belts. They lost the 2025 Galway intermediate final 1-13 to 0-13 to Caltra Cuans, but put that right this year, beating Bearna na Forbacha 2-9 to 1-5 in the county final.

They had earlier accounted for St Furseys 2-15 to 1-5 in the semi-final, and in the Connacht quarter-final they beat Leitrim’s Kiltubrid 0-15 to 2-4.

The key battle looks clear. Tuam Cortoon have conceded just 8, 8 and 10 points in their three knockout games, so Moy Davitts’ goal threat against that defence could well decide it. The winners face CT Gaels or Pádraig Pearses, who meet in the other semi-final the same day, in the Connacht final.
