Mayo GAA club extends condolences on death of underage player's mother

The Germany native moved with her husband to the county years ago, and was well-known in the community
TOOREEN Hurling Club has extended condolences to the family of Carina Herten (née Padberg), Carton North, Tooreen.
She was formerly of Neukirchen, Germany.
She died in the kind care of the Mayo Hospice in Castlebar following a long illness which she battled with courage and strength.
“Carina’s son Kieran is a member of our U12 team. It was a heartbreaking but poignant moment last Sunday when Carina bravely attended our U12 match in Castlebar to see Kieran and his teammates play for the last time.
“Carina and her husband Dieter moved to the village a number of years ago and became popular and much-loved members of the community.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Dieter, her sons Kieran and Oisín, her extended family and many friends at this difficult time,” said a statement from the club.
