Mayo boss Andy Moran spoke his mind at the homecoming of the All-Ireland winning Mayo team after beating Kerry in a pulsating final in Croke Park.

The team was treated to an absolute hero’s welcome in MacHale Park, after travelling by train from their team hotel in Dublin.

“They sneered at us, they laughed at us. But they won’t laug at us anymore,” he said to a rapturous crowd.

“I said let them go a bit nuts, and you didn’t let me down,” the Ballaghaderreen man followed up.

“Jordan’s brother Dylan Flynn was dancing with his top off in Hill 16. I was feeling good this morning, we crossed the Shannon, and stopped in Ballyhaunis. Jack said ‘stick your chest and be proud of being from Mayo’”, Moran shouted into the microphone, to the cheers of a packed MacHale Park.

Moran was in top form.

“From the bottom of my heart, and from the management team, listen, we have 42 guys behind us who have literally given their heart but not just for themselves, they have given it for you people. Kobe McDonald said this morning, if you give us energy, we give you energy energy back. And by God, did you give us energy!”
