Mayo County Council announce that their staff car park in Castlebar will be opened on Sunday to accommodate fans watching the final

Mayo GAA fans looking to watch Sunday's All-Ireland final against Kerry on the big screen at The Mall in Castlebar will be able to avail of extra car parking spaces.

A giant outdoor screen will be erected on The Mall in Castlebar in advance of the All-Ireland final between Mayo and Kerry, bringing supporters together in the heart of the town for what promises to be a memorable community event.

Mayo supporters unable to obtain a ticket for the final in Croke Park will be able to watch it instead on an eight-metre-wide LED screen, giving supporters the opportunity to experience the excitement of the All-Ireland final together in a fantastic community atmosphere.

With large crowds expected to descend on the Mall for Sunday's showdown with the Kingdom, Mayo County Council announced that they will open their staff car parks close to the Mall to allow for convenient parking for supporters coming to the Mall on the day.

Staff car parks will be open from early morning, adding an additional 185 parking spaces to the further car parks available close by in Castlebar.

Castlebar Chamber of Commerce and the Castlebar Municipal District recently announced that a giant outdoor screening of final will take place on the Mall after there were calls by local councillors to make it happen.

Castlebar Chamber President Maria Staunton said: “This is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when a community works together. A huge amount of effort has gone into bringing this event to Castlebar, and we are incredibly grateful to Mayo County Council, our Chamber committee and all of the local businesses who have supported us in making it happen. We hope people from across Mayo will come together, enjoy the atmosphere and get behind the team as we cheer on the Green and Red.”

Cllr Ger Deere, Cathaoirleach of Castlebar Municipal District, Mayo County Council, said: “The Mall is at the heart of Castlebar and it is wonderful to see it becoming a gathering place for the community to come together for such an important sporting occasion. Mayo supporters have always shown incredible passion for the team, and I am delighted to work with Castlebar Chamber and local businesses in helping to create a memorable experience for everyone attending.”

Supporters are encouraged to arrive early before the 3.30pm throw-in to secure their spot and enjoy the match-day atmosphere as the town comes together to cheer on Mayo.
