The lucky punters received their winnings after Mayo overcame Kerry on a memorable day on Sunday, July 26.
On Sunday evening, Mayo captain Jack Coyne gave an outstanding speech as the Ballyhaunis man climbed the steps of the Hogan stand to claim the Sam Maguire Cup.
It was a long 75 year wait for Mayo but on Sunday, a memorable day was had by many.
One lucky punter from South Mayo had a great day as he won over €7,000. The man made a bet months ago which consisted of Wicklow winning the Tailteann Cup and Mayo winning The Sam Maguire Cup. At odds of 14/1 and 20/1, the man placed €100 on the double. Over €32,000 was the payout but as the bet was made online, the punter settled for a cash-out offer and was delighted as he secured €7,636.
Another lucky Mayo punter was confident seven weeks ago and made his way to Paddy Power to place a bet. He put down €50 and received amazing odds of 20/1 while a payout of €1050 was issued.
In recent days, there were great celebrations around the county. Mayo were 11/4 underdogs to win on Sunday but thanks to a superb showing, Andy Moran’s men got the job done and now Sam Maguire is back in Mayo after a long 75 year wait.
