Why Newport’s Hello GoodLife Hub has everyone talking

Alongside the physical benefits, the Hello GoodLife Hub has been designed to encourage social connection and community wellbeing
There is a new talking point in Newport, and it is not hard to see why.
Since opening its doors on the Westport Road, Hello GoodLife Health & Wellbeing Hub Newport has quickly become one of the most talked-about additions to the town, attracting members from Newport, Westport and the wider Mayo area.
Just a short drive from Westport, with ample parking on site, the hub is offering a fresh approach to health, fitness and wellbeing - one centred not on pressure or performance, but on movement, confidence, connection and quality of life.
Owned and operated by Joanne and Noel Jennings, pictured outside the building with their daughter Caoimhe, the Newport hub is part of the growing Hello GoodLife network, which is designed to support people at every stage of life and fitness.
Inside, members use a full circuit of Innerva power-assisted exercise equipment. The machines are designed to support natural movement, helping users improve mobility, strength, balance, flexibility and overall wellbeing in a safe and accessible way.
For many, it is an ideal way to stay active without the intimidation often associated with traditional fitness settings.
The equipment allows each person to work at their own pace, making it suitable for people who may be returning to exercise, managing stiffness or reduced mobility, recovering from illness or injury, or simply looking for a sustainable way to keep moving.
But while the equipment is an important part of the experience, it is not the whole story.
Step inside Hello GoodLife Newport and there is an immediate sense of warmth and community. People are welcomed by name. Conversations happen naturally. Members encourage one another. For many, the visit is as much about connection as it is about exercise.
That social element is central to the Hello GoodLife approach. As more attention is placed nationally on healthy ageing, independence and preventative wellbeing, the importance of regular movement and social connection has become increasingly clear.

In Newport, those ideas have found a very practical home.
Local man Jim Reilly, who attends daily, is among those who have made the hub part of their routine. Photos from inside the hub show Joanne assisting Jim on the equipment, reflecting the hands-on, supportive atmosphere that members experience each day.
For Joanne and Noel, creating that welcoming environment has been key.
The aim is not simply to provide a place to exercise, but a place where people feel comfortable, supported and encouraged. A place where people can improve their health, meet others and enjoy being part of a positive community.
That sense of community is perhaps why Hello GoodLife Newport has become such a talking point locally.
It is not just a new business in the town. It is a new social space, a wellbeing space and a place where people of all ages and abilities can take small, consistent steps towards feeling better.
And with its convenient location on the Westport Road, just minutes from Westport and easily accessible from Castlebar, Mulranny, Newport and surrounding areas, it is already drawing interest from across the county.
As conversations around healthy living, active ageing and community wellbeing continue to grow, Hello GoodLife Newport is showing that the most effective changes are often the simplest ones: move more, stay connected and feel supported.
For many Mayo people, that journey is now beginning in Newport.
