Renowned Irish harpist Tríona Marshall to perform intimate concert in Mayo

Former Chieftains musician will bring her solo show to Westport this September
Irish harpist Tríona Marshall, best known for her long-standing role with The Chieftains, is set to perform an intimate solo concert in Matt Molloy’s Yard Bar in Westport, on Thursday, September 17, as part of a new series of performances across Ireland.
The concert, which begins at 8.30pm with doors opening at 8pm, promises an evening celebrating Irish traditional music, classical works and contemporary compositions. Tickets cost €15 and will be available at the door.
Described as “an experience that reveals the surprising depth of a single instrument through the mastery of a musician with the heart of a storyteller,” the performance will showcase Marshall’s musical style, blending emotion and authenticity.
Marshall is widely regarded as one of Ireland’s finest harpists. During almost two decades as a member of The Chieftains, she toured internationally, performed in some of the world’s most prestigious concert venues and collaborated with artists from different musical genres.

Her solo performances reflect a more personal artistic journey, combining traditional Irish airs, contemporary Irish compositions and her own distinctive arrangements.
Following the Westport performance, she will also perform at St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, Galway, on Saturday, September 26.
The Westport concert offers local audiences a rare opportunity to experience one of Ireland’s most accomplished harpists in the intimate setting of one of the town’s best-known live music venues.
