Two Mayo-based drama groups took home awards at the Féile Náisiúnta Drámaíochta, for Irish language amateur dramatics, held in Westport Town Hall.

Cumann Drámaíochta Naomh Pádraig, Westport, enjoyed a double success at the festival, with their newly written play ‘An Rud Eatarthu’, written and directed by Séamas Mac Eachmharcaigh, winning Drama of the Festival. The production also earned Alanna Ní Mhíocháin the Best Actor award for her portrayal of Síofra in the same play.

Newly established group Ardán Mhaigh Eo took home an award for Best Props and Costume for their play ‘Na Spéaclaí Draíochta’, translated by Áine Nic Giolla Bhríde, directed by Róisín Uí Chógáin.

“I extend my heartiest congratulations to everyone who took part in the 2026 festival,” said Muireann Ní Dhroighneáin, National Coordinator of Performing Arts for An tOireachtas.
