Hotel Newport in Newport, Co Mayo
Hotel Newport has been listed for sale at €1.95 million, offering what agents describe as a rare opportunity to acquire a fully operational hotel along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way.
The three-star hotel is being brought to market by property agents TDL Horizons, on behalf of Greenway Hotels Limited. The owners of the company are also own and run Hewetson Bros. Bar in Westport, as well as The Alcock and Brown Hotel in Clifden.
The Mayo News understands that the group plans to invest in the Dublin market following the sale of Hotel Newport.
The property, which was purpose-built in 2005 at a cost of approximately €5.5 million, includes 30 en-suite bedrooms, the Seven Arches Bar and Bistro, the Cobblers Restaurant, a dedicated function room, and on-site parking. Around €220,000 in capital investment has been made in the property since 2021.
Strategically positioned just 11km north of Westport — one of Ireland's most popular tourism destinations — the hotel holds a unique position in the local market as the only hotel in Newport town and the only one between Westport, Castlebar, and Mulranny.

The property benefits from strong tourism demand in the area, with the Great Western Greenway running directly through the town, drawing a steady stream of domestic and international cyclists and walkers. The recent completion of the Westport and Castlebar N5 bypass has also improved accessibility to the region.
Niamh Walsh of TDL Horizons confirmed to The Mayo News that interest has already been received from both home and abroad since the listing launched, with the diaspora market among those expected to be drawn to the property. "It's a matter of giving back to the community, creating a legacy — that will certainly tick the diaspora's box," she said, adding that she would not be surprised if the buyer turns out to be an established hotelier given the strength of tourism demand generators in the area.
Walsh said the hotel represents a significant investment prospect. "Hotel Newport represents a rare opportunity to acquire a well-located, fully operational hotel in one of Ireland's most scenic coastal towns," she said. "New owners can reposition the hotel as a leisure and activity tourism hub, with significant potential for the business to grow through enhanced marketing, activity tourism, and events-driven trading."
The sale is being offered as a going concern.
