Kelly’s Mace at the Circle K Service Station on the Mulranny Road in Newport, Co. Mayo has been announced as the selling location
Champaign corks were flying and cars were hooting as the celebrations got underway in Newport for Mayo’s newest millionaire!
The filling station and shop have been in business for over 30 years and shop owner Michael Kelly told The Mayo News that “we’ve never had anything like this before, it’s completely new to us. A big day here in Newport.”
He wished the winner or winners all the best and good fortune to them from all at Kellys.
The Quick Pick ticket was purchased in Kelly’s Mace on the day of the draw, last Wednesday.

Margaret McNeela has been working in the shop for over fifteen years and may well have sold the winning ticket on Wednesday.
She told the Mayo News that “every time you sell a ticket you say, ‘it could be you.’”
“And here we are today, my God, we have sold it!”
Looking ahead to tonight, she expressed hope that the shop might also sell the winning ticket for the €160 million jackpot tonight.
Next steps
Speculation has grown into a frenzy in the locality, with WhatsApp groups throwing endless names of potential winners into the mix.
While the consensus this morning among Newport residents was that it’s hoped a local won it, the ongoing roadworks and passing traffic to Achill and Ballycroy mean the winner could be from farther afield.
It remains to be seen if the holder of the winning ticket will go public, as The National Lottery’s Sarah Orr explains that “it can be different for everyone. A lot of winners will remain anonymous and some go public at different times. It just depends on different winners.”
Sarah Orr, spokesperson for The National Lottery, told The Mayo News that “we were delighted to hear from the winners. When the prize is so big, the best they can do is take their time and get legal and financial advice.”
The winner or winners will then come up to Dublin to claim their prize at a later date.
Mayo holds a number of records when it comes to Lotto wins.
The highest ever jackpot of just over €19 million was won in Castlebar in January 2022.
Last August, an online winner from Mayo won €17 million last year, the third highest ever lotto jackpot.
