Pictured: 'Stitching Their Names'
The 50th anniversary edition of Westival is set to take place from October 22-27, featuring music, theatre, comedy, visual art, and community events across Westport. The festival is one of Ireland’s longest-running arts festivals, founded in 1975.
Among the many events taking place is ‘Stitch Their Names’, a Palestine solidarity event inviting the community to honour and remember through the act of stitching.
The project is a tribute to the lives lost in Gaza and honours each individual through stitching their names into fabric.
“In a world that reduces profound loss to mere statistics, this project insists on dignity, time, and reflection,” organisers said. “By threading each name with care, we create space for mourning, for grief, and for bearing witness.”
