The Mayo soccer season is the latest casualty of Storm Amy
Storm Amy has been wreaking havoc across Mayo and beyond, with the Status Orange and Red Weather warnings causing plenty of cancellations in the county.
Firstly, Kylemore Abbey announced their closure for tomorrow (Friday, October 3). Now, the local soccer scene has become the latest casualty of the inclement forecast from Met Éireann.
In a statement from the Connacht FA, Gerry Tully, the organisation's administrator, has confirmed that all Connacht Cup fixtures involving have been postponed.
Clubs and leagues have been granted the opportunity to reschedule the fixtures, weather permitting, to Saturday or Sunday.
Only one fixture is pencilled in involving clubs from the county. The Round One meeting of Castlebar Celtic and Westport United was due to take place in Celtic Park at 7.30 pm, but will now need to take place at a later date.
At present, the other 17 Connacht Junior Cup and Shield ties scheduled for Saturday, October 4, and Sunday, October 5, will go ahead as planned.
