An Garda Siochana have announced that Westport will experience minor traffic disruption over the next two days as planned drills are taking place

‘There is no cause for concern’ - planned drills set for Mayo town

The West Mayo town of Westport is set to be the training ground for An Garda Siochana and thus far unnamed other state agencies over the next number of days. 

In a Facebook post on Monday, the state’s police force sought to assure local residents in the Quay area of Westport that “these are planned drills only and there is no cause for concern.”

The training exercises are set to take place over the next two days and residents are being told that “you may notice some activity, and experience minor traffic disruption during this time.”

An Garda Siochana Westport concluded their post by stating that “We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we carry out this important work. Thank you for your understanding.”
