The Grace Hotel forms part of Westport Estate, and formed part of an article from Forbes
A high-end luxury hotel in Mayo has caught the eye of one of the world's leading news outlets.
Westport’s soon-to-open luxury hotel, The Grace, Westport Estate, has earned international recognition after being profiled in Forbes. The influential publication highlighted the property as one of Ireland’s most exciting new additions to the hospitality scene.
Set to open in spring 2026, The Grace is located within the 430-acre Westport Estate on the shores of Clew Bay, and an ideal stop for those looking to pitch up as they meander along the Wild Atlantic Way.
Forbes noted that the hotel is unique in being a completely new build rather than a repurposed historic property, while still embracing the estate’s rich heritage.
The article also praised the venue's design, overseen by Mayo-based Taylor McCarney and Dublin firm GW Design, which blends contemporary elegance with a more natural feel inspired by the local landscape.
"The Grace features a design that respects the estate's history while bringing in contemporary elements," the article reads.
Amenities singled out in the feature include multiple dining venues showcasing local produce, a high-end Grace Spa & Wellness centre, and event spaces designed for weddings.
Forbes also emphasised the project’s roots in Westport, with local owners the Hughes family spearheading both the hotel and the wider transformation of Westport Estate, including the restoration of Westport House.
The Forbes recognition firmly places The Grace and Westport itself on the global luxury travel map.
The news outlet also singled out the town itself for plenty of praise.
"The main thoroughfares, Bridge Street and Castlebar Street, are lined with homegrown shops, cafés, and pubs situated in historic buildings," penned journalist Shivani Vora.
"Everyone seems to know everyone, and if they don’t, they’re likely to greet you with a warm 'hello.' It also offers a gorgeous tree-lined promenade, dubbed 'The Mall,' along the Carrowbeg River."
Barry O'Connor, the CEO of Westport Estate, spoke of his pride in the new venue.
“Westport and the Wild Atlantic Way are defined by their people and their extraordinary landscape, a place where history, culture, and natural beauty are deeply woven together," he stated.
"With The Grace, as part of the wider transformation of Westport Estate, we want to honor that spirit and create a hotel that feels truly rooted in these aspects of the West of Ireland."
