Since then, the woman has been identified as Mayo native Kathleen Kilcoyne. Kathleen hails from Ashleam in Achill; however moved to London.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that no arrests have been made in relation to the incident and that the driver of the bus is cooperating with their investigations into the circumstances of the tragic incident.

"Police were called at 17:58hrs on Sunday, August 17, following reports of a serious road traffic collision in Neasden, Brent," a statement read.

"Officers were joined by the London Ambulance Service at the junction of Neasden Lane with Dudden Hill Lane, where a bus had been in collision with a pedestrian.

"Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 73-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene."

Funeral arrangements for Ms Kilcoyne are yet to be confirmed.
