ALERT: 'Do not swim' notice put in place for busy Mayo beach

Carrowmore beach in Louisburgh has been placed under a 'Do Not Swim' notice according to Mayo County Council

Mayo sea swimmers may have to find a new place to dip their toes in the immediate future, as Mayo County Council have revealed that a 'Do Not Swim' notice has been put in place for one of the county's most popular beaches.

Today (Tuesday, August 12), the Council stated that the notice had been placed on Carrowmore Beach in Louisburgh until further notice.

The decision has been made due to the quality of bathing water in the area when it was sampled.

Resampling for the ocean water has been organised; however, for now, swimmers will have to tick Carrowmore off their list.
