Geraldine was loved and cherished by all who knew her, and in particular her family circle.

In the days leading up to her passing, the night nurses from the Irish Cancer Society were on hand to assist the family, and Geraldine in her time of utmost need.

The professional manner with which the nursing team treated both Geraldine struck a chord for her children, as they went about their work to bring dignity, peace, and comfort to her.

"Their presence allowed us to spend precious time with Mum at home, surrounded by love," said her daughter, Ashlea Diamond.

Now, five years on, the family are trying to give back to the organisation who provided a helping hand.

On Saturday, August 2, at 11am, Aughagower Community Centre will host a coffee morning, with all funds going to the Irish Cancer Society.

On the day, there will also be a raffle, as well as a chance to have a chat and remember the life of Geraldine.

All funds from the coffee morning will go directly to the Irish Cancer Society.

The family have set an ambitious target of raising €2,000 for the cause. However, with ten days to go until the event, they have already surpassed the 60 per cent mark, having amassed €1,252 at the time of writing.
