A woman was taken by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital yesterday after falling ill on Croagh Patrick.

At approximately 5.30 pm on Monday, July 21, Mayo Mountain Rescue were informed by local Gardaí of the woman’s condition. They were informed that she had become cold and unable to walk, and couldn’t make it beyond 30 minutes from the car park.

Within an hour, the woman was located by the emergency team on the walking track.

Emergency care was administered, and a stretcher transported her to a waiting ambulance at the Murrisk car park.

Mayo Mountain Rescue also took the opportunity to wish the lady a full and speedy recovery.
