Seven Mayo Bars will now look forward to the National Finals next month.
The Bar of the Year Awards 2025 has received over 1000 entries, making it the most competitive year yet. After intense deliberations, only the finest bars have been selected as finalists. There are plenty of Mayo establishments nominated for the grand final. The event will take place on Monday, August 18, at the prestigious Clayton Hotel on Burlington Road.
In the five star hotel bar of the year, the Prince of Wales Bar at Ashford Castle has been selected as a finalist. In terms of Bar food of the year, Bar Square in Ballina has been selected as a finalist with the popular establishment also being selected in the Best live entertainment Bar category.
The Barrel & Castle in Castlebar has been selected in five categories including Best Designed Bar/Best inside space, Best newcomer, Outside space of the year, Outstanding customer service award and finally Best Pub group of the year along with Cosy Joe’s and The Porter House who are also in the group.

Also selected as a finalist in the Best live entertainment Bar is Ballina’s Paddy Mac’s. Flannery’s Bistro in Ballinrobe has been selected as a finalist in Best Wine Bar and Gastro Bar of the year.
The popular Nevin’s Newfield Inn, Tiernaur has been selected as a finalist in four categories. Those are Gastro Bar of the year, Innovative Bar of the year, Outstanding customer service award and visitor attraction of the year award.
The Porter House situated in Westport has been selected as a finalist in the Tourist Bar of the year as well as in the Traditional Bar of the year category.
